Illari received some TLC from the developers

Overwatch 2 Season 9 started with major changes to stabilise the meta and ensure balance. However, after the last patch, the support champs were underperforming, so the developers recently buffed them to make them viable with the meta.

Overwatch 2, the sequel to the 2016 hero shooter Overwatch, just released its ninth season. And with it came massive changes. Starting from heroes to maps to even a new coveted rank, the Champions Rank, Blizzard made sure to leave no stone unturned.

However, a lot of the heroes were not performing as expected, so the developers took action and stated, "This patch is focused on fine-tuning some of the systemic hero changes made in Season 9. In addition, we’re adjusting individual abilities to make them feel more impactful due to heroes having larger health pools."

Of all the heroes, the support heroes received the short end of the stick, so the developers buffed some of them and addressed some critical bugs that stopped the supports from performing optimally.

All the updates to the Support Heroes in Overwatch 2, March 2024:

Ana

  • Ana's Biotic Grenade’s explosion damage and healing increased from 60 to 90.

Baptiste

  • Baptiste’s Immortality Field’s minimum health threshold decreased from 25% to 20%.

Brigitte

Illari

  • Illari’s Solar Rifle’s primary fire recovery time was reduced from 0.3 to 0.2 seconds.
  • It’s maximum charge time was reduced from 0.7 to 0.65 seconds.

Developer Comments: “We are adjusting the firing cadence of the Solar Rifle, making it more responsive to use, and increasing the damage per second but not the burst damage.”

Lifeweaver

  • Lifeweaver’s Heal Blossom's maximum heal amount increased from 70 to 80.
  • Its maximum charge time increased from 1 to 1.15 seconds.

Developer Comments: "We’re increasing the burst potential of the Heal Blossom to reinforce Lifeweaver’s role as a high healing throughput support. The heal per second is roughly the same as before, but individual heal blossoms can be charged further."

The main job of Support Champions is to help and support other teammates. With the recent improvements to their abilities, they will be able to last longer in fights and provide their crucial support to help your team win fights and emerge victorious.
