All over the world, following the League of Legends World Championship 2022, leagues are making adjustments to their modes of operation, in cooperation with Riot Games.
Up until now, the changes have included the formation of EMEA, and the addition of double elimination to the LCK playoffs.
the newest change, however, was Riot Games announcing that League of Legends Circuit Oceania will no longer receive a direct invite to LoL Worlds of the Mid-Season Invitational.
This will not, as it stands now, impact the internal organization of LCO, and it will continue to function as normal in its domestic operations. However, the top two teams of League Circuit Oceania from each split, will be sent into PCS playoffs, for a chance to represent the Pacific region at international events.
"We believe that participation in the PCS will offer a more competitive landscape for LCO teams, provide richer opportunities for player development, and spark broader interest and fandom in LCO teams and players ", said Riot Games.
This will be the final year that a team from Oceania received a direct invitation to eithr MSI, or Worlds. Perhaps its precisely due to the fact that no team from the region made it to the playoffs of either event, that this change was enacted.
