League of Legends - First round of matches for Worlds 2023 has been announced

Following the exhilarating Play-In stage, Riot Games announced the first round of matchups at LoL Worlds 2023.

For the first time in the history of League of Legends World Championships, the tournament will have a Swiss Stage, which means the teams will battle others with similar scores in an attempt to get three victories that will qualify them for the knock-out round.

This part of the tournament will last for 10 days, from October 19 to October 29, 2023.

The draw for the first round was completed immediately after the incredibly exciting Play-In conclusion.

LoL Worlds 2023 Swiss stage draw results

  • GENG vs GAM
  • NRG vs WBG
  • G2 vs DK
  • JDG vs BDS
  • T1 vs TL
  • C9 vs MAD
  • BLG vs KT
  • FNC vs LNG

Gigabyte Marines are not going to have an easy first round, just after they qualified from the Play-Ins as they will face Korea's first seed. However, the other team that came from that stage, BDS, will have it just as rough with JDG, LCK's first seed.

NRG is the new name of the CLG roster, which as you may remember used to have terrible growing pains in LCS but they have come a long way since then as they are now NA's first seed, facing China's fourth seed. That said, LCK and LPL have been ahead of everyone else for the past few years so it's going to be tough for the North American champions as well.
