Riot Games has embarked on a mission to create a less toxic gaming environment in League of Legends. Recent changes, including automatic chat muting and the Bystander Feedback System, reflect their commitment to combatting toxicity.
While these measures have made a positive impact, Riot acknowledges that more needs to be done. Instances of players being held hostage in games prompted the introduction of a proper Surrender system.
Riot's latest endeavor to reduce toxicity includes the implementation of the Ranked Queue Penalties System in Patch 13.19 and the removal of certain pings from the game due to their misuse for toxic behavior.
Changes in Ping Systems
Riot is taking steps to refine the ping system in League of Legends. One significant change involves the Allied Scoreboard pings, which will now be visible only to the player using them. This adjustment aims to prevent players from repeatedly pinging the "Alive" ping to criticize teammates.
While players can still ping their cooldowns to communicate with allies, certain aspects will be restricted. The current system for pinging ultimate and item cooldowns will remain unchanged, and players can continue to ping enemies and their attributes.
However, this alteration has sparked controversy within the gaming community, as it appears to limit communication tools.
Another change involves the removal of the "Bait" ping, deemed "unacceptable" due to its misuse. Riot plans to replace it with a different ping to eliminate toxic behavior.
This move signifies Riot's commitment to fostering a more positive gaming experience by eliminating various tools that have been misused by players.
