Riot has decided to eliminate Mythic Items from League of Legends in Preseason 2024. While some Mythic Items will return as Legendary items, Galeforce is confirmed to be permanently removed from the game.

Galeforce, an item in League of Legends, has long been a subject of controversy among players. Introduced in Season 11 as part of the Mythic Item update, the item offers a package of stats, including 50 Attack Damage, 15% Attack Speed, 20% Critical Chance, and 7% Movement Speed.

On the surface, it appears to be a standard item for Marksmen, offering good value for its cost. However, the contentious issue arises from its Unique Passive ability called Cloudburst. This ability allows the user to dash to a target location and fire three homing missiles at the most injured enemy within 750 units, with a cooldown of only 120 seconds.

The problematic aspect of Galeforce is that it essentially grants Marksmen an extra Flash summoner spell every 120 seconds. Considering that many Marksmen are fragile and rely on the Flash summoner spell for repositioning and survival, this item has disrupted the game's balance, so Riot decided to remove it.

Riot Games has made several attempts to address the issues with Galeforce. They increased the cooldown of its Unique Passive - Cloudburst, reduced its statistics, and even altered its Mythic Passive.

However, none of these changes seemed to resolve the problems associated with the item.

Therefore, in preparation for Preseason 2024, Riot has made the decision to remove Galeforce from the game entirely. In a recent Dev Blog, Riot expressed their concerns about the Mythic system and its inherent challenges in terms of balance, especially with items like Galeforce.

It was noted that Mythic Items did not adequately cater to the needs of various champion classes in the game, with Assassin being the only class where Mythic Items reasonably fit.
