The PBE servers are currently testing the Azir Mini-Rework, which is expected to be released on the live servers with Patch 13.5. The release date for Patch 13.5 is scheduled for Wednesday, March 8, 2023.
Azir is a popular League of Legends champion in competitive play, with over 50% presence in all four major regions. He is known for his strong landing phase and unparalleled team-fighting abilities. However, this is not reflected in solo-queue where Azir has a low 46% win rate and a 2.3% pick rate, making him the second-lowest mid-laner.
Riot attempted to address some of Azir's issues in Patch 13.4 but was unsuccessful in improving his win rate in solo-queue. Therefore, for Patch 13.5, Riot plans to implement an Azir mini-rework. The primary objective of the rework is to make Azir more viable in solo-queue while reducing his power in professional play.
The mini-rework is designed to balance Azir's power between competitive and solo-queue play. The goal is to maintain his unique strengths and team-fighting abilities while making him more accessible to a wider audience. By improving his solo-queue viability, Riot hopes to see a rise in his popularity in solo-queue without causing an imbalance in competitive play.
