Intellect will play a lesser role in Destiny 2 Super cooldowns

Bungie will be nerfing Intellect stat in Destiny 2 indirectly as they will put emphasis on Guardians participating in firefights in order to get their Supers.

Intellect is easily the most important stat in Destiny 2 currently, next to Recovery but that will change when the sandbox updates on December 7, 2021. The reason here is that Bungie is generally looking to decrease ability usage in PvP and put more emphasis on gunplay, which eventually spawned this mini rework for the Supers.

Guardians will primarily gain Super energy through shooting enemies or getting shot themselves. Passive Super generation will still be there but it will be greatly diminished, putting a question mark over the usefulness of the Intellect stat.

Furthermore, the devs are looking to put Supers on distinct cooldowns so you can either prepare your counter-Super or use it to secure a win before enemies get a chance to pop theirs at all.

There will be five tiers of cooldowns for Supers:

  • Tier 5
    • Well of Radiance
  • Tier 4
    • Blade Barrage
    • Silence and Squall
  • Tier 3
    • Shadowshot
    • Burning Maul
    • Arc Staff
    • Nova Bomb
    • Thundercrash
  • Tier 2
    • Golden Gun
    • Chaos Reach
    • Nova Warp
    • Stormtrance
    • Daybreak
    • Sentinel Shield
  • Tier 1
    • Spectral Blades
    • Fist of Havoc
    • Hammer of Sol
    • Glacial Quake
    • Winter’s Wrath

Supers from Tier 5 will be the quickest to charge while those at Tier 1 will be the slowest.

The reasoning here is that the Supers with the biggest potential to kill an entire enemy team will regenerate slower than the likes of a Blade Barrage that can counter them, which is pretty snappy when it comes to cooldowns.
