New World Interactive, the developer of realistic shooter Insurgency: Sandstorm have officially confirmed that they are delaying the PS4 and Xbox One port indefinitely in order to deliver a more complete and optimised version of the game.
Insurgency: Sandstorm was originally scheduled to arrive to both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One shortly after the PC release. The developers set late 2012 as their goal but here we are in mid-2020 and Insurgency: Sandstorm is set to see the light of the day on consoles.
And it will stay like that for a while since the developer New World Interactive have just announced that their realistic shooter will not release on August 25, 2020, which was the game's last planned release date.
"While the development of the console version has been on a good track, we will be unable to launch the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One versions of Insurgency: Sandstorm on August 25, 2020," it is written in the message from CEO Keith Warner and Head of Production Derek Czerkaski.
The new release date has not been shared but they confirmed that more information including the new launch window will be communicated once the team are confident the game is ready to release.
New World Interactive will use the additional time to improve the Day 1 experience for all players by delivering a more complete and optimised version of the game.
