ArenaNet had to share some sad news with the Guild Wars 2 fans - they will not be able to release the third episode of the Icebrood Saga in a complete form as it will not be voiced.
Guild Wars 2's writing was initially not something ArenaNet could boast about. However, with the Heart of Thorns expansion onwards, the narrative kept getting better and the story is something many fans care about deeply today. One integral part of that experience are the voice actors who bring our favourite characters to life.
Unfortunately, the voice actors will not be a part of the Icebrood Saga Episode 3 on release, courtesy of the Covid-19 pandemic. The social distancing, isolation and other precautions stood in the way of the voice actors coming to ArenaNet's studio where they would record the lines for further processing.
The sad news was shared on the official website but several voice actors remotely worked with ArenaNet to put together a video explaining why Episode 3 will launch in silent mode. You can see it below in its entirety.
Keep in mind the third episode, No Quarter, is still upcoming and as such has no confirmed release date. On the other hand, it will receive a trailer next week.
In the meantime, it could be worthwhile to have a listen to all the messages from the voice acting talent. At some points, it feels like Lex Lang is just mouthing the words behind a mask while a Charr ventriloquist is doing the talking. It's that good.
