The original God of War trilogy is getting a remake. That was probably the last announcement many expected during Sony’s latest PlayStation State of Play. Without warning or prior leaks/trailers/teasing, Sony announced the decision to remake the core God of War trilogy.
It was one of the few moments in Sony’s showcase that wasn’t accompanied by a flashy trailer. However, it still offered some valuable insight as this is now official. Instead of showing off footage, this segment was all about confirmation and reassurance that yes, a remake is in fact happening.
However, it is still a ways away from actually releasing. Die-hard fans of God of War will be excited to see Kratos at his most brutal again and explore the Greek myths that made him who he was before the Norse adventures.
TC Carson Officially Confirms God of War Trilogy Remake
The original voice actor of Kratos, TC Carson took to twitter to confirm that God of War trilogy remake is in development. Carson further stated that this is still in the beginning phases and we shouldn’t be expecting to see gameplay anytime soon.
Details like on what platforms the game will release, when it’s releasing, or what the gameplay will be like were not mentioned. Sony only stated that this will be a remaking of the trilogy and not a remaster. The developers further elaborated that when we do see something, it’ll be big.
Going Back to Kratos’ Greek Roots
The first God of War trilogy takes place between the years 2005 and 2010. It chronicled Kratos’ ascent to power, his downfall at the hands of the gods, and his defiance of Zeus.
The trilogy is known for:
- Its fast and aggressive combat.
- Massive boss fights
- Story driven by Greek myths
Remaking these games gives the developers a chance to improve on the graphics, gameplay and overall presentation while keeping the same tone and gameplay that made them great in the first place.
What To Expect
Sony has stated that if we’re expecting news pronto then you’ll have to wait. They haven’t put a timeframe on when we’ll hear about this again but when it does happen they promise it’ll be big enough for fans to care.
