Crimson Desert's Graymane Camp serves as your faction's home base, offering deep base-building, companion management, and dispatch missions reminiscent of Red Dead Redemption 2's camp system.

Today, Pearl Abyss have shared the third and final features overview video for their highly-anticipated action adventure RPG Crimson Desert, and to be honest, I'm lost for words here.

Crimson Desert looks simply breathtaking, and the sheer scale and depth of this game are unlike anything I've ever seen.

Crimson Desert's journey begins not in triumph but in defeat. After losing a crucial battle against a rival faction, the Graymane mercenaries establish a camp that serves as your home base throughout the adventure - and it's far more than a simple filler mechanic.

Decorating homes and preparing meals

Starting from humble beginnings, the camp grows steadily as you invest resources and recruit comrades. Players can decorate buildings, construct new facilities for merchants, and prepare meals before heading out into the world.

Pearl Abyss has drawn clear inspiration from Red Dead Redemption 2's camp system, creating a living, breathing base that evolves alongside your progress. Companions join the camp gradually as you progress through the story.

Recruit soldiers and send them on missions

Once recruited, each comrade can be assigned specific roles or dispatched on missions across the world map. Successful dispatches return currency, materials, and valuable resources. The system extends to offensive operations too - players can send comrades to attack enemy castles and outposts, recapturing locations and pushing rival factions back across the map.

One thing that struck me once again is just how the surrounding world feels alive. Busy villages and towns house various vendors, including blacksmiths and tailors, whilst NPC "stories" offer smaller activities alongside larger side quests.

Pit fighting, arm wrestling and more mini-games confirmed

Mini-games, including fighting, arm wrestling and dice-like games have been confirmed too, and this certainly adds further variety. Fighting in a pit filled with mud could easily become one of my favourite activities in Crimson Desert. I've spent a ton of time fighting in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, and I plan to do that here too.

The world reacts to player behaviour as well. Harmful actions turn residents and guards hostile, with jail a genuine consequence for pushing too far.

On paper, Crimson Desert certainly looks like a special game, but obviously, it's all about fun and how all of this gels together without feeling too overwhelming.

Crimson Desert launches March 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Mac.
