Ghost of Yōtei: Legends launches on 10 March as a free PS5 DLC, with new gameplay revealing co-op battles against monstrous versions of the Yōtei Six

Ghost of Yōtei will continue its upward trajectory next month. Due to impressive sales that apparently surpass Ghost of Tsushima during its launch period, Sucker Punch Productions has announced that its cooperative multiplayer-centric Legends mode will launch on March 10.

Available for free to all existing owners of the main game on PS5, the update will arrive alongside a debut gameplay trailer that dives into each gruesome iteration of the Yōtei Six. Judging by the video, Legends will feature bigger-than-ever boss battles with a focus on synchronized internet sessions.

Demonic Versions of the Yōtei Six

From the new gameplay trailer, we learned about four of the enemy types you’ll be facing most often: The Spider, The Oni, The Snake and The Kitsune. However, these aren’t exact copies of what you encounter during your campaign playthrough.

These enemies appear to be demonic versions of their original design:

  • The Spider is hanging upside-down on ceilings with many legs
  • The Oni is stabbing enemies with a spear while holding its own decapitated head
  • The Snake has snakes moving throughout its body
  • The Kitsune is holding a sickle in its mouth while dragging a chain

These yokai enemies tower over you compared to regular sized foes, promising to make every encounter feel like an epic boss battle.

Four-Player Co-Op and New Classes

Ghost of Yōtei: Legends will allow for four players to join forces and take on enemies online. Each player will be able to pick from four unique classes that offer different weapon types like spears, dual katanas, and longbows.

Exact information on the different abilities per class are unknown at the time of writing, but those who enjoyed Ghost of Tsushima: Legends should hopefully expect:

  • Unique talents and passive bonuses
  • Abilities that are specific to each class
  • Team compositions that focus on working together

Should the developers continue to expand on what Tsushima’s Legends mode had to offer, this may just be the most replayable component of Ghost of Yōtei.

Ghost of Yōtei: Legends will be available to all players as a free update on 10 March exclusively for PS5 owners.
