Sony Santa Monica spared no effort in creating options for God of War: Ragnarok players, which is best seen in the number of graphics preferences that will be available to them.
Previously, it was thought there would be "only" four options but as it turns out, the newest PlayStation console alone has more options than that.
Starting with the last-gen, the regular PlayStation 4 will not have any options but it will target 30 FPS at 1080p which is respectable performance for the hardware in question.
PlayStation 4 Pro will have two options:
- Favour performance
- 1080p to 1656p
- 30 FPS unlocked
- Favour quality
- 1440p to 1656p
- 30 FPS target
PlayStation 5 will have six options:
- Favour performance
- 1440p to 2160p
- 60 FPS target
- Favour performance + HFR
- 1440p
- 60 FPS unlocked
- Favour performance + HFR + VRR
- 1440p
- 60 FPS unlocked
- Favour quality
- 2160p (native 4K)
- 30 FPS target
- Favour quality + HFR
- 1800p to 2160p
- 40 FPS target
- Favour quality + HFR + VRR
- 1800p to 2160p
- 40 FPS unlocked
As for the abbreviations, HFR stands for High Frame Rate while VRR is Variable Refresh Rate.
Using either of these options requires an HDMI 2.1 cable and a compatible display device.
