It seems that Fortnite: Battle Royale's glider redeploy feature is going the way of the dodo, as Epic Games announced that it will be removing it as of version 6.30. However, it will stick around the larger team modes for the time being.
Epic broke the news on their website, conceding that they haven't done the best of jobs on "quickly iterating on the mechanic and communicating plans." Glider redeploy has been around for about two weeks and while pretty grand on paper, it obviously didn't work out the way Fortnite's maker intended it to.
In the for Fortnite's v6.21 update, Epic said they're satisfied with the first-week results of testing glider redeploy, even if not all players took a liking to it. At the time, they prioritised glider audio over weapons, so as to ensure that sneaking up isn't as easy, but alas, it wasn't to be.
The feature was first implemented in Soaring 50s LTM, when Epic grew fond of it and implemented it in the remaining modes as a result. While it hasn't proven to be everyone's cup of coffee, the company will still be keeping it for larger team modes like Soaring 50s, Disco Domination and of course Playground.
Personally, I can't really say it had that much of an impact in my matches, although it stands to reason that the more proficient you are - the bigger an asset it is. I'd go as far as to suggest that the cries for the removal of glider redeploy weren't coming from the pro part of the spectrum, which is oh-so-often the case, but then again, I could be wrong. Which of course doesn't mean I am - just that I could be.
Fortnite's 6.30 update is expected to land in a few hours and will be removing the feature from most of the modes. As usual, we reckon Epic will be rolling out a few surprises as well, but we'll know soon enough anyway.
