Destiny 2 sandbox is getting shaken up with the new expansion and that always means major balance changes. This time around, SMGs and Pulse Rifles are in focus.

Bungie is working on a whole set of changes to refresh Destiny 2 PvP, including matchmaking improvements and the removal of Freelance nodes as well as a few balance changes that will see a power switch in short and long-range weaponry.

SMGs will in general be less dependent on the range stat now in order to combat the dominance of the few guns that could achieve maximum range nad then overshadow the entire weapon category.

Additionally, Adaptive Frame SMGs will now be more in line with the Lightweight ones as they will deal the same headshot damage while dealing more body damage.

This will not make Lightweights irrelevant as that frame still provides the passive mobility bonus on top of having different perk pools across various weapon models.

When it comes to Pulse Rifles, they are getting nerfed across the board due to their power. They will now have less aim assist event at 100 range and more recoil will be added on mouse and keyboard inputs only.

As such, all players should have a little more issue landing consistent headshots across long ranges but MnK players will see the nerfs more prominently.
