Destiny 2 is removing one of the fan-favourite features when it comes to PvP but it may or may not impact the experience in a significant manner.

Bungie is doing some funky things with Destiny 2 PvP ahead of the Lightfall expansion.

First, there is the addition of Rumble as a permanent playlist mode and now they also announced Freelance nodes will be removed from PvP playlists.

While it sounds scary, it may not end up being too much of an issue, or it might, depending on how well the devs handle the transition.

Namely, Freelance was introduced to combat premade teams that were rolling over solo teams. Bungie also added the Fireteam-based matchmaking (FMM) in Season 19 so it was obvious one of these was redundant.

It is for this reason that the devs are removing Freelance as FMM becomes prevalent in more playlists.

The reason Freelance wasn't removed immediately was that Bungie wanted to test out the reliability of FMM so once they became confident of the way the system works, the decision to pull the plug on Freelance was made.

Should things go smoothly, not much will change for the average Destiny 2 PvP enjoyer, regardless of whether they go in solo or with a team.
