Destiny 2 is altering quite a few weapons in the next season, hoping to shake up the sandbox and refresh the players' experience. Here is a rundown on all the changes.
In order to change the Destiny 2 sandbox for Season 18, Bungie had to go and change a bunch of weapons. Some were nerfed, some buffed and others got a little bit of both in order to alter their use but without reducing efficiency.
Archetype changes
- Scout rifles deal 10 per cent more damage to red bars in PvE
- 360 RPM auto rifles -more stability for non-sunset weapons
- Lightweight bows
- Lower draw time
- Perfect draw time window increased
- Hand cannons - Dire Promise zoom stat fixed
- Glaives can now activate perks from ACD/0 Feedback Fence, Karnstein Armlets, and Necrotic Grip
- Breech-load grenade launchers can no longer roll Concussion Grenades
- Heavy grenade launchers deal 10 per cent to Major and higher class PvE enemies
Perk and trait changes
- Invader Tracker trait replaced with Gun and Run. Increases sprint speed on multikills
- Skulking Wolf now activates when you kill someone while at low health
- Ambitious Assassin overflows the next mag by 20 per cent per kill, up from 10.
- Doesn't apply to special and heavy weapons
- Overflow cap increased
- Wellspring no longer has an internal cooldown
- Should be good for explosive weapons now
- Perpetual Motion buff won't be displayed on HUD
- Lead From Gold now splits green ammo if two special weapons are equipped
- Veist Stinger will now only refill magazines on Linear Fusion Rifles
- Zen Moment description updated to better explain functionality
Weapon balance changes
- Le Monarque counters Overload champions
- Thunderlord counters Overload champions
- Malfeasance counters Unstoppable
- Improved airborne effectiveness
- Wish Ender counters Barrier
- 10 per cent more damage vs champions, majors and minibosses
- Slightly lower draw time
- Gets three hits instead of two on targets
- Guardians still only get two
- Legend of Acrius gets Trench Barrel perk with Catalyst
- Calus Mini Tool - improved airborne effectiveness
- MIDA Mini Tool - improved zoom
- Drang (Baroque) - improved airborne effectiveness
- Sweet Business - improved airborne effectiveness
- Fighting Lion - increased damage by eight per cent
- Thin the Herd reload period up to six seconds
- Lord of Wolves - nerfed in PvP, roughly the same in PvE
- Dead Man's Tale - nerfed in PvP, headshots no longer give bonus damage
- Increased hip-fire shooting speed with catalyst, lowered damage by 20 per cent
- Collective Obligation - buffed in PvE
- Void Leech timer now 15 seconds, up from 10
- 20 per cent more damage in PvE while it's active
- Takes fewer hits to activate
- Kills on debuffed enemies instantly charge it
- Non self-inflicted debuffs on player instantly charge it
- Umbral Sustenance doesn't activate with non-Void overshields
- Void Leech timer now 15 seconds, up from 10
