Destiny 2 introduced deterministic recoil with Season 22 as Bungie announced that most weapons will get the treatment.
The first of your questions is likely going to be "What is deterministic recoil anyway?", followed by the how, why and when of things.
Here are all of those answers, all in one article for your convenience.
What is deterministic recoil and how does it in Destiny 2?
Currently, Destiny 2 has fairly random recoil on each weapon that kicks enough for it to be noticeable. Shoot long enough and the line made by the bullet holes will go in all kinds of different directions. Deterministic recoil adds patterns with just a little bit of randomness to the formula to keep things somewhat predictable so you can compensate for it better.
In other words, recoil might go a different way from time to time but it will mostly stick to the same pattern.
Why is Bungie adding deterministic recoil?
While Destiny 2 has awesome gunplay, you have to admit it starts to become stale after hundreds, if not thousands of hours just shooting things around. With deterministic recoil, each weapon should theoretically get more character as the possibilities for different characteristics grow with the potential recoil patterns that can be added to virtually every individual weapon.
Which weapons are affected by deterministic recoil in Destiny 2?
- Auto Rifle
- Pulse Rifle
- Scout Rifle
- Submachine Gun
- Sidearm
- Hand Cannon
- Trace Rifle
- Machine Gun
Fusion rifles, shotguns and sniper rifles are exempt to the rule.
When is deterministic recoil coming to Destiny 2?
It is already in the game, with all the weapons that have the Season 22 watermark (the upper right corner of the weapon's icon) being subject to the changes. Upcoming weapons will also get deterministic recoil.
