Destiny 2 has suffered a series of connectivity issues recently, leading to player disconnects, lost progress, suspension warnings and even the servers being brought down for emergency maintenance by Bungie.
The players didn't get much feedback from the developers until the latest TWID, which occurred on June 29, 2023.
Even then, the actual response was buried under a wall of text and a roadmap for the issue.
The cause of all this ruckus is apparently one system that processes smaller bits of data such as every single kill, Orb creation or even every Glimmer drop.
While the whole mess of disconnectivity was underway, Bungie figured out what the issue was but the fix will take a long time to be implemented, with the estimated arrival date being the start of Season 22, which is scheduled for August 22, 2023.
Not all is gloom and doom however, as Bungie is hoping to implement several smaller fixes along the way, which should result in fewer frustrations but players will need quite a bit of patience until the "big" fix happens with the next season.
There will also be an automated testing system that should hopefully vet the code before it goes live in order to avoid such mishaps in the future.
