CD Projekt Red today announced that they will allow players to try their big RPG Cyberpunk 2077 for free on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. CD Projekt Red the trial will be a great opportunity to experience the Night City for those who always wanted to try the game but didn't get it so far.
The free trial will be available from March 28 at 8:00 AM PDT / 04:00 PM CET to March 31 at 11:59 PM PDT / 07:59 AM CET. Players will get to play a total of five hours of unrestricted gameplay without any additional fees or subscriptions.
Those who decide to purchase Cyberpunk 2077 after the trial ends will have their progress seamlessly carried over to the full game, which is always a nice feature to have in these trials.
As for the actual game content, you'll be playing the full experience for the first five hours including the base game with all previous updates, such as the recent Update 2.0 featuring major gameplay overhauls and new features like redesigned skill trees and perks, vehicle combat, a new police system, and more.
In addition, Update 2.1 is also included in the trial and features a fully functional metro system, the ability to listen to in-game radio stations outside of vehicles via the radioport, new vehicles, and more to the game.
As expected, the expansion Phantom Liberty won't be included with the expansion as it requires a high level and we'd say some understanding of the main story to be able to play it.
It certainly would not make a lot of sense to include it in the free trial given that there's plenty of content to play before the expansion.
Interestingly, there is no free trial on PC, which suggests CD Projekt Red are probably trying to get more sales from consoles, as the performance on PC has been strong since launch.
