Cyberpunk 2077 will launch its highly anticipated PS5 Pro Enhanced update on April 8, 2026. Developer CD Projekt Red has shared numerous details on what to expect from the game’s big update later this year, including massive upgrades to both visuals and performance.
Two new rendering technologies will be introduced, along with three graphics modes optimized for players’ preferred playstyles. This PS5 Pro update will provide one of the largest technical upgrades players can get for Cyberpunk 2077 on console since launch.
PS5 Pro Three Graphics Modes
Update provides three different modes players can toggle between that focus on prioritizing either graphics or performance.
Ray Tracing Pro Mode
- Pushes full ray tracing including ray-traced reflections, shadows, ambient occlusion, skylight, and emissive lighting. Targets 40 FPS on VRR displays, or 30 FPS on other displays.
Performance Mode
- Prioritizes fluid gameplay, achieving up to 90 FPS on VRR enabled displays while still outputting a crisp image.
Ray Tracing Mode
- Allows players to enable certain ray tracing features while targeting 60 FPS.
Enhanced Graphics
Night City will feature upscaled graphics courtesy of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution on PS5 Pro, improving textures and overall image fidelity. CD Projekt Red have also baked in support for BVH8, allowing for “advanced ray-traced lighting and reflections.”
You can expect crisper shadows, smoother lighting calculations and reflections across Cyberpunk 2077‘s open world. Simply put, it’s the best console version of Cyberpunk 2077 to date.
Final Thoughts
Higher frame rate options and deeper ray tracing means smoother gameplay and better immersion when you add these elements together. Improvements like PS5 Pro’s updated rendering won’t just arbitrarily increase Cyberpunk 2077’s resolution.
There are three modes to choose from and plenty of room for CD Projekt Red to refine things even further going forward.
