While CD Projekt RED previously confirmed that the next major installment in its iconic series - The Witcher, moves into full production quite soon, the game has been in the pre-production stage of development, but it seems it's gained much ground while getting ready to head over into a full-fledged phase.
During the recent quarterly financial update for CD Projekt RED, CFO Piotr Nielubowicz mentioned that the team behind Project Polaris - the next Witcher game currently in development-was making "substantial progress."
With more than 400 developers working on this project, the team is preparing to conclude the pre-production phase and jump into development fully, effective soon.
Nielubowicz believed in the project timeline: "Hard work set the stage for this important milestone. In full production, The Witcher 4 will make major jumps toward its eventual release, pending no official date acting thus far.
But not all news was about The Witcher 4, as Nielubowowicz spoke to the development of Orion-the codename given to Cyberpunk 2077's sequel-developed at CD Projekt's Boston studio.
Laying the grounds for this next chapter in the Cyberpunk series is in the hands of a mix of seasoned veterans and newly hired talent. Although it is still early in its development, Orion represents a commitment to studio continuity of its high-profile games portfolio.
Both are promising projects that signal great times ahead for CD Projekt RED as they build on successful franchises. At the same time, fans are eagerly awaiting more from The Witcher and Cyberpunk while these ambitious games are still in development.
