Bungie is once again asking for your financial support in Destiny 2 as the next Solstice event will have a layer of monetisation.

Destiny 2 players have endured curveballs Bungie threw at them for years and yet, it appears their patience knows no bounds. It will likely be tested once again when the next Solstice of Heroes event rolls around as Bungie will try to yank out a few more pennies out of everyone's pockets.

Thankfully, the armour set appears to be outside of this monetisation scheme so if that's all you're after during the Solstice, you're good to go. The monetisation will manifest in the form of an "Upgraded Event Card" which is basically another way of saying "battle pass". So yes, it will be a battle pass within a battle pass, one of them being the Season Pass and the other an "Upgraded Event Card". They are unrelated though so it appears you can have one without being required to have the other.

Upgraded Event Card will lock the additional cosmetics behind a paywall that will set you back 1,000 Silver which is the equivalent of $10 or €10. It will grant the players an Exotic reward bundle which will provide instant access to two Exotic and one Legendary cosmetic but the full list of cosmetics is as follows:

  • Exotic Emote (ERB)
  • Exotic Ship
  • Exotic Ghost Shell (ERB)
  • Legendary Shader (ERB)
  • Legendary Emote
  • Legendary Ghost Hologram X2
  • Legendary Transmat Effect

With the addition of the Upgraded Event Card, at the time of Solstice of Heroes 2022, Destiny 2 will have effectively charged the players for an expansion, a season pass and another season if they don't want to miss out on content. That is not to mention the vast amount of cosmetics that are sold separately in the store for premium currency.
