Gearbox and Borderlands 3 will be celebrating Halloween with a lengthy, themed and seasonal event called Bloody Harvest. Starting on 25 October, the event lasts until 5 December and requires players to unlock Sanctuary III in the campaign.
"While Bloody Harvest is active, you'll notice a peculiar newcomer aboard your ship: Maurice, a surprisingly friendly Saurian who can speak to you via a device of Tannis' own invention", Gearbox wrote, explaining that Maurice will serve as a guide for Borderlands 3's seasonal events.
Once Borderlands 3's new event has begun, Maurice will offer players a repeatable mission to reach Bloody Harvest setting of choice, aptly named Heck. You'll be collecting Hecktoplasm from green-glowing Haunted enemies you'll find all over the galaxy and once you've got enough, Maurice will open a portal to Heck, the domain of Captain Haunt and his undead minions.
Borderlands 3 Vault Hunters have several things standing between them and Captain Haunt, starting with an undead army of Maliwan soldiers, fire-breathing Rakk-o'-lanterns and Ratch.
As you'd expect, Bloody Harvest cosmetics will only be available during the event, and the same goes for the gear that will drop. There's Fearmonger, which is a new Legendary shotgun with a "supernatural punch", but players will also come across Anointed weapons, which lean on the event's Terror mechanic.
"Haunted enemies can inflict the Terror debuff, which will affect your aim and partially cloud your vision - but with these new Anointed effects, you can turn Terror into a beneficial boost of power", Gearbox said.
Borderlands 3's store will offer seasonal cosmetics but players will be able to win the following items through gameplay - skins for each of the four Vault Hunters (this applies to Moze's Iron Bear and FL4K's pets), a seasonal Echo Device Skin, shrunken head Weapon Trinket and ghostly Global Weapon Skin.
If you keep your eyes peeled, you'll see them all in the trailer above.
