Alone in the Dark was one of the bigger video game releases in October 2023 along with Alan Wake 2, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Assassin's Creed Mirage to name a few. For that reason, the publisher THQ Nordic have decided to push the release date into 2024.
Alone in the Dark will now launch on January 16 and the developers will use the additional time to optimise the performance and squash bugs so players have the best possible experience when the game launches.
To be honest, this is a very smart move by THQ Nordic. Even though Alone in the Dark is highly anticipated by many horror fans, Alan Wake 2 is objectively a bigger horror release and there are a couple of other big games that are releasing just before Alone in the Dark.
Moving the release date to January certainly gives players more time to play all these games and once we're in the new year, there will be plenty of time to focus on Alone in the Dark too.
THQ Nordic's statement:
"Let’s face it: There are too many amazing games coming out this October. You want to play them all, we want to play them all, but there is simply not enough time.
This is why we have decided to move the release date of Alone in the Dark to January 16, 2024. The team will use this additional time to perfect the gaming experience of AitD while making sure everyone gets a chance to enjoy all the other fantastic games released in October."
Alone in the Dark is developed by Pieces Interactive in Sweden and will be coming to PC, Xbox Series S/X and PlayStation 5.
