Lords of the Fallen: Kinrangr Guardian Folard boss fight

In the Fief area of Lords of the Fallen, your first encounter is with the Kinrangr Guardian Folard boss. This guide will provide you with a simple method to defeat him and outline the strategy to employ.

Lords of the Fallen, the latest Souls-like RPG adventure by CI Games, follows the genre's tradition of having bosses that later appear as regular enemies, making occasional appearances throughout the game.

Kinrangr Guardian Folard, a boss found in the snowy Fief area, is an example of a boss that transitions into a regular enemy you'll encounter in the game. His arena is a crucial point in the game's progression, making him a mandatory boss.

How to beat Kinrangr Guardian Folard

This boss is shielded by an invincibility parasite, so it's essential to eliminate this parasite before engaging in battle. There are two methods to destroy the parasite: one is to attempt a soulflay, which can be risky but quite rewarding (a method we strongly recommend), and the other is to enter Umbral immediately to eliminate the parasite, which is what we did. However, killing the parasite in Umbral adds another mini-boss to the fight, making it a much more challenging encounter.
Once the parasite is eliminated, defeat the two hounds. If you're in Axiom, the battle will be significantly easier. However, if you're in Umbral, first take down the mini-boss before focusing on the main boss when he's alone in the arena.
In terms of the boss's attacks, they are quite straightforward. The boss typically attacks with his axe, generating frost waves. This attack consists of either two or three swings. Dodge to the side to avoid them, then capitalise with one or two hits when he finishes his assault. Keep repeating this strategy until the boss is defeated. As seen in the video, we managed to eliminate the boss without sustaining any damage when he was alone.
Here's another useful tip: after defeating the boss, don't use the Vestige Seed right away, as you'll find a permanent vestige right after leaving the arena.

Watch the video to witness our successful run against this boss. However, we strongly advise against entering this fight in Umbral, as victory becomes almost impossible to achieve that way.
