Hollowbody's first level puts you in control of Mica as she explores a large abandoned building. Early on, you will encounter your first enemy and, once it is dealt with, find yourself in Room 13 with a locked safe on the wall.
Opening it is not optional: the safe contains the Long Key, an item tagged 'Spare gate' that is required to progress the main story. The code is not written down anywhere. Instead, it is pieced together from photographs and details scattered around the room.
Step 1: Examine the photographs in the room
Before touching the safe, look around Room 13. Two photographs are findable here. The first shows a young woman celebrating a birthday with a child who appears to be around three or four years old. The second is a graduation photograph showing three women in caps and gowns, one of whom appears to be heavily pregnant.
The body on the floor belongs to Hellen Bridges, the former occupant of this room. The photographs and other details in the room establish her personal history and contain the information needed to work out the code.
Step 2: Work out the year of graduation
Additional details in the room indicate that Hellen Bridges was born in October 2025. Examining the clues together, the graduation photograph was taken while she was heavily pregnant, and the birthday photograph shows the same child at around three or four years old. Working backwards from those details, the graduation year comes out as either 2051 or 2052. The correct answer is 2052.
Step 3: Enter the code and collect the Long Key
Interact with the safe and enter 2052 using the keypad. The safe will open, giving you the Long Key. The item description confirms where it came from: found in the safe of Room 13, with a tag reading 'Spare gate'. This key is needed to continue through the level.
Quick tip: If you go straight to the safe without examining the photographs first, the puzzle will not make much sense. Take a moment to look at both pictures and read any notes in the room before attempting the code. The game expects you to piece it together yourself, and the clues are all there if you look for them.
