With the eagerly awaited sequel to Global Offensive, players are eager to dive into their favorite FPS game once more. The demo viewer is a crucial tool for reviewing and learning from your own gameplay. Analyzing your matches, identifying errors, and refining your skills is essential for improvement.
Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) also features a demo viewer. However, if you attempt to download one of your match demos from "Your Matches," you'll encounter the frustrating message: "Match Demo has expired and is no longer available for download." Fortunately, there's no need to panic, as Valve has temporarily disabled this feature.
Valve made an announcement in their patch notes on September 28, stating that demo recording had been temporarily disabled. The reason behind this move was to boost server capacity, enabling more players to enjoy Valve Matchmaking and Premier Servers.
"Disabled CSTV and demo recording temporarily to increase server availability so more people can play."
In essence, there are no match demos being recorded on Valve servers at this moment, leading to the expiration of your match demos.
While Global Offensive didn't experience such issues, it had a robust community server player base. Currently, CS2 lacks the same level of support, causing a significant increase in server loads.
Additionally, Leetify has declared that no match results or data can be recorded due to the absence of available match demos.
When Can You Download Your Match Demo Again?
Valve has yet to announce when they will reinstate demo downloading. The surge in server load since the release of CS2 justifies their decision to temporarily disable match recording.
However, demos play a vital role in Counter-Strike, so their return is anticipated. We expect demo recordings to be back by the end of the month as Valve works on providing more servers and rolling out additional patches.
