Valve's online gaming platform Steam keeps on growing, breaking another record. According to SteamDB, this weekend Steam saw an all-time record in terms of concurrent users, reaching up to 38,367,277 users at one point in time.
Of these, around 12.27 million were playing games, while the remainder used the service for other purposes. This new record comes just a few months after Steam surpassed 36 million concurrent users back in March, surely a sign that the platform's growth is ongoing.
Indeed, Steam has continued to dominate the world of digital PC gaming, consistently upping the ante in player activity as more game launchers and distribution platforms came online.
Although the total count of concurrent users is still on the rise, one should note that the number of players who actually played a game of something failed to break the previous record set in late August. This past weekend's peak fell 264,000 short of it.
Interestingly, at the time when this new peak hit, the list of most-played games also saw some shuffling around. While games like Counter-Strike 2 and PUBG: Battlegrounds retained their number one and two spots, respectively, Satisfactory and Deadlock joined in on this list, replacing Once Human and Baldur's Gate 3.
The leading pack is Counter-Strike 2, with almost 1.5 million players, followed by other popular games like Dota 2 and Naraka: Bladepoint. Quite noticeably, Steam never runs slow.
Instead, it keeps breaking its own record as time goes forward, which holds good only because of more and more games adding up and features being put on the platform.
