Counter-Strike: Global Offensive features pretty long competitive matches and the same is true for pro events where one team needs 16 wins to secure victory.
In short, a match will have 30 or fewer rounds in regulation time and if both teams won 15 rounds each, the match ends in a draw, with the exception of pro matches where tiebreaker rounds are played.
With Counter-Strike 2, Valve will change this and competitive matches shouldn't end in a draw as frequently.
Competitive matches will now have the upper limit of 24 rounds, meaning winning 13 rounds will end the match. This will save everyone's time as they won't need to commit about an hour for longer matches but also provide a way to reduce the number of draws.
If the score is 12-12, there will a six-round overtime to decide a winner. If the final score is 15-15, it will still be a draw but keep in mind that there is an additional match-ending trigger at 13 rounds.
Additionally, player ranks will be split across the various maps they play in the new Premier mode. It will feature a pick-and-ban phase to drop the maps players like the least while the remaining ones will stay available in the pool.
One player that may be Global Elite in one map may have a lower rank elsewhere, allowing them to slowly master their weak spots by playing lower bracket allies and opponents.
