Have you been venturing in a magical swamp and now have a debuff to show for it? Thankfully, getting rid of it is easy.

Baldur's Gate 3 has mutliple ways to ruin your adventuring if you are not careful enough or you are simply curious about things, especially loot.

One such example includes the berries that can be found in the swamp as you pick up the trail of the hag who imprisoned Mayrina. Should you pick up these berries, there is a chance you will get Rot, which then festers and provides an even bigger debuff when it turns into Rotting Flesh.

Resting doesn't help here, at least not directly.

Curing Rot and Rotting Flesh in Baldur's Gate 3

To cure Rot or Rotting Flesh, it will not be enough to rest or heal your character. Instead, you need to use some type of restoration spell on them. Given the location of the swamp, it is likely the only spell you will have available is Lesser Restoration.

Thankfully, you can switch out spells on your Cleric whenever you're not in combat so if you have Shadowheart tagging along, let her take care of the debuff. Keep in mind that Lesser Restoration uses up a Level 2 spell slot so you will still need to rest to get it back.

Preventing Rot

In order to prevent getting afflicted by Rot entirely, you will either need someone with Sleight of Hand proficiency or rely on good ol' save scumming. In the first scenario, Rogues are a good bet and Astarion can do the job early on unless you have a PC that is better at the job. Each time you loot a bush in the swamp, you will have to go through a Sleight of Hand check so make sure you use one of them for minimal chances to get afflicted.

Save scumming is self-explanatory - stand in front of the bush, quick save and then quick load if the Sleight of Hand check fails. That way you can avoid getting the debuff entirely but the process can be time consuming and breaks the flow of the game.
