Xbox might be working on a new universal dashboard that would unify the interface across their stores on PC, Xbox and Windows handhelds.

According to the latest rumours, Xbox could be working on some significant improvements to their Xbox dashboard design, especially in terms of having one unified interface across various platforms where the Xbox store is available.

In his latest video, Xbox community member and insider colteastwood, revealed that "Xbox is secretly working on a universal Xbox dashboard that will unify the interface and the whole Xbox experience across any device that is supported by Xbox kernel and Windows platform."

Interestingly, colteastwood also speculates on the recent rumours that the next Xbox console could be a hybrid of Windows and Xbox systems, allowing players to install apps like Steam, Epic Games Store and others to play any PC game they want.

Whether or not this is true, it remains to be seen but it would certainly be a massive departure from the current and previous designs of the Xbox consoles. Xbox previously teased the new console, saying it will be "the biggest technological leap ever" but the actual details are pretty scarce and it will probably stay that way for a couple of more years.

Xbox handhelds could be a thing when the next-gen arrives in 2026 or beyond

Xbox are expected to release a new console sometime in 2026 according to rumours. At one point, the company planned two SKUs, one being a traditional console and the other one being a handheld.

Phil Spencer also previously teased the handheld, saying that he wants a handheld that can play all his games, contain his cloud saves and have the option to support controllers too.

All in all, that's plenty of exciting rumours on Xbox's hardware but also software front and let's just hope some of these come to fruition.
