Developer Bioware have confirmed that their highly anticipated RPG Dragon Age: The Veilguard, which you may know as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf before the name change, will be native on Steam and playable on Steam Deck.
Native on Steam means that the game won't require the EA app once you start it, which is certainly a great decision that every Steam user will appreciate.
As for Steam Deck, Bioware say Dragon Age: The Veilguard is officially verified on the handheld, so players should expect a good performance and not a slideshow.
"We're making great progress towards our fall launch date, and can confirm early that DragonAge: The Veilguard is going all-in on Steam features! We're verified on Steam Deck. We'll be Steam native - meaning the EA App will not be required to play the game," Bioware said on X.
As you can see from Bioware's statement, the team are also making great progress towards their release date, which is encouraging and perhaps suggests that the game won't be delayed out of 2024.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is currently on track to launch later this year for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
