Forza Horizon 6's PC specs are now official, and the headline is that full ray tracing, including ray-traced reflections and global illumination, only requires an RTX 5070 Ti or RX 9070 XT. For a game of this scale, that is a reasonable ask for the top-end preset, and notably does not demand the latest flagship GPU to get the best visual experience. This makes me, a RTX 4080 user one happy bunny.
The full spec tiers are in the image below, but a few things stand out.
The Extreme RT preset targets 4K upscaled at 60fps with ray tracing fully enabled, requiring 32GB of RAM and an NVMe SSD. Step down to the standard Extreme tier and you are looking at native 4K on an RTX 4070 Ti or RX 7900 XT with 24GB of RAM. The Recommended tier, targeting 1440p at 60fps, asks for an RTX 3060 Ti or RX 6700 XT with 16GB, which is well within reach for most PC players right now. A fairly reasonable stuff, which is something that we're used to when it comes to Forza games, which are usually well optimised.
The Minimum spec will get you 1080p at 60fps on a GTX 1650 or RX 6500 XT, which is accessible by any measure.
On the feature side, the game supports DLSS 4, FSR 3+4, and Intel XeSS 2.1, has uncapped framerates, ultrawide monitor support, and robust controller and wheel support. Ray-traced reflections and global illumination are confirmed. No mention of path tracing though, which is probably expected as that doesn't make a lot of sense in a racing game.
Perhaps most interesting for handheld players: Forza Horizon 6 is confirmed playable on both Steam Deck and the ASUS ROG Ally, which is a good sign for accessibility and suggests Playground have done meaningful optimisation work across the hardware range.
