Remember the colourful and charming DokeV which we first got to see at Gamescom 2021? If you totally forgot about this action-adventure from publisher Pearl Abyss, we don't blame you.
Despite the fantastic trailer and the buzz that followed in days after the reveal, DokeV has been completely forgotten since then due to the complete radio silence from the devs.
We did not get a single bit of information about the game in a while and Pearl Abyss themselves don't seem to know when exactly will DokeV release.
In the most recent earnings call, Pearl Abyss did not even mention the game, which certainly is not good news for all those who were expecting to play the game soon.
There is no official release date for DokeV at the moment, and we probably won't get one anytime soon. Why? Well, Pearl Abyss are busy with their other big project - an open world action RPG called Crimson Desert - which is also in development for PC and consoles.
It's safe to assume that once the development of Crimson Desert is done, the team will switch to DokeV but unfortunately, we don't have the release date for Crimson Desert either.
Pearl Abyss only said that they expect to wrap up the development in the second part of 2023 but obviously, that didn't happen. If we had to guess, we would say that Crimson Desert is probably coming sometime in 2024, which would put DokeV release date in 2025 at the earliest.
And that would probably be an optimistic prediction. Don't be surprised if DokeV launches even later as it's a very ambitious project with a huge open world and a very unique concept.
It's also one of Pearl Abyss' first blockbuster titles with singleplayer in mind and for a studio that only worked on MMO games so far, it's obviously not smooth sailing to start designing something completely different.
All in all, we hope that Pearl Abyss will finally start providing more details about their upcoming projects as we're really excited for both Crimson Desert and DokeV.
