Pearl Abyss’ Crimson Desert has recently hit a new milestone only weeks after release. Crimson Desert has now sold over 4 million copies globally, with the studio confirming the achievement on social media.
Pearl Abyss thanked players for their support and mentioned their ongoing engagement with the game. Sales have been strong for the game since its launch, despite mixed reception in some areas.
Sales Surpass 4 Million Copies
Crimson Desert selling over 4 million copies is just the beginning for what will likely be much higher numbers. The director at Pearl Abyss mentioned that they’re nearing the 5 million sales mark already and expect to update players soon if this continues.
Coupled with a large number of players when it launched, player engagement has remained high recently. This is partially due to players returning after a string of quality-of-life updates intended to fix the player experience.
Titles Update
Pearl Abyss has implemented several titles to the game that have addressed various issues and expanded on gameplay systems. These have been focused around improving players’ quality of life.
Examples of some of these features include:
- New mounts (five total), including legendary and boss mounts
- Decreased stamina consumption when flying
- New fast travel locations
- Private storage chest
- Quality-of-life changes such as these have allowed players to find more enjoyment in the gameplay loop
Players have been frequenting the PC version quite heavily since recent updates as well, with high concurrent player counts.
Plans Ahead
In addition to implementing updates, Pearl Abyss has plans to expand Crimson Desert to other platforms. The team has begun research into a Nintendo Switch 2 version, but they will likely have to make compromises.
Pearl Abyss also mentioned that players haven’t been too fond of the story in Crimson Desert. Developers state that they could’ve done more to improve it during development.
