Pearl Abyss’ Crimson Desert is dominating launch in terms of player and streaming numbers on Twitch and Steam despite mixed reviews being released early.
Pearl Abyss’ latest open-world action-adventure released earlier today on March 19 and it’s already one of the biggest launches we’ve seen this year when looking at player counts and viewership.
Massive Twitch Viewership at Launch
Pearl Abyss’ Crimson Desert is dominating Twitch’s top games charts.
Current and peak Twitch stats include:
- 326,012 viewers currently watching
- 496,493 peak viewers (24-hour and all-time)
Getting over 490,000 viewers within the first day of its release is absolutely huge. Crimson Desert is undoubtedly one of the biggest launches we’ve seen on Twitch recently.
Strong Steam Player Numbers
Crimson Desert is also performing well on Steam. According to tracking data, the game reached:
- 239,045 peak concurrent players at launch
- Over 131,000 concurrent players shortly after release
- Ranked among the top streamed titles on Steam
These numbers easily outperforms titles like Marvel Rivals, ARC Raiders, and Overwatch on launch. To give you some additional context, Marathon, another blockbuster release, only hit around 86k concurrent players at launch.
This shows Crimson Desert achieved a much higher raw number of players during launch when compared to another huge release, while it’s Twitch numbers beats Marathon by miles.
Big Numbers Despite Mixed Reviews
Keep in mind that Crimson Desert has earned mixed reviews early on. Positive reviews have mentioned its size, graphics, and ambition, but there are obvious complaints about performance and some aspects of gameplay.
Nonetheless, Crimson Desert is proving so far that all of this hype and curiosity is creating action from players. Only time will tell if the game can keep players interested in the following weeks, perhaps relying on updates, optimisations, and reception.
