Crimson Desert will reportedly be getting its first DLC sometime before the end of 2026. Pearl Abyss confirmed that more information would be coming for the upcoming open-world RPG later this year, but also shared that the title’s first expansion is already in development.
Pearl Abyss shared that players can expect a “fresh” gameplay experience with the upcoming DLC. While the developer hasn’t shared any additional information on what players can expect, it’s unlikely to simply add onto existing content.
Instead, players should likely expect a brand new adventure. Marketing specialist Will Powers previously hinted at players shouldn’t expect more of the same content from Crimson Desert’s DLC, too.
Extra Details on Expansion Coming This Year
Pearl Abyss' earnings letter for 2026 confirmed that players can expect the first Crimson Desert DLC later this year. While the developer hasn’t specified when players can expect it, it did say more info will be shared during the third quarter.
Details will likely include:
- Release schedule
- Structure and content
- How much it'll cost
It’s unknown what “third quarter” exactly means for Pearl Abyss, but if it follows a calendar year then the company should share details about the expansion by the end of September.
That said, players shouldn’t exactly expect more of the same content from Crimson Desert. Aside from promising players a fresh experience, Pearl Abyss hinted that the game’s first DLC will feel entirely different.
Pearl Abyss Could Have More Up Their Sleeves
Additional DLC isn’t the only thing Pearl Abyss teases for Crimson Desert. While speaking about the game, the developer mentioned that it has “various follow-up strategies” for the open-world RPG.
This includes the possibility of more DLC down the line. Pearl Abyss specifically said it views Crimson Desert as an IP it can expand on with its world, characters, and regions.
“We believe there’s much more room to grow with our IP,” Pearl Abyss COO Sung Jin Chang said. “From the outstanding world to the fascinating characters and fantastic regions.”
This means players could see multiple DLC releases for Crimson Desert. The developer also wants to bring the game to additional platforms in the future.
Pearl Abyss specifically stated its intent on porting Crimson Desert to the Nintendo Switch 2. However, the company has yet to say when players can expect it or if it has a release date.
