It's been nearly a month since the latest update to Warframe and the community is as split as ever before. What exactly turned Warframe into a warzone?

Digital Extremes did not stop with the nerf hammer after they were done with Wukong . They took to AOE weapons to seal the deal with the rework of the whole meta.

Area of Effect (AoE) weapons are the most commonly seen weapons in every mission type in Warframe , making them even stronger than what they used to be was the removal of self-damage some years ago.

DE felt that AoE weapons should be impactful but the state they were in until recently warranted sizeable changes.

In order to reach the kind of efficiency that is required for high-level Warframe content, many players felt like they were losing too much if they didn't have one of the top AOE weapons equipped.

This went so far that the top five AOE weapons made up 47% of all weapon usage at high Mastery ranks.

Meta weapons such as Kuva Bramma would lead to one person being able to do everything on their own even with three team members.

In order to depopularise these weapons, DE has decided to rework the entire ammo system behind ranged weapons in general. The main goal of this rework is to limit how often these powerful weapons can be used in a mission.

With the simplification of Primary, Secondary and Heavy ammo, the choice to remove Sniper and Shotgun ammo has been made, the reason for that being as follows:

‘Ammo Pickup’ is a new property on every weapon, it indicates the amount of ammo you get when picking up an ammo box.

Base ammo pickup values have also been increased as follows:

  • Primary - from 60 to 80
  • Secondary - from 20 to 40

More powerful weapons now have to trade their reliable ammo economy in order to retain their killing potential from before. DE has managed to split the room when it comes to opinions on this update.

Many players are still very vocal about their disagreement with these changes weeks later, while the opposite side is happy that they get to enjoy the game without constant earthquakes killing enemies as soon as they spawn.
