The Split map is temporarily shut down and made unavailable for all game modes in Valorant due to some critical bugs making the game unplayable. Let's take a deeper look into the matter.

The removal of Split from all game mode map pools in Valorant is quite surprising, as it's one of the few instances where a map has been completely taken out due to a bug.

This drastic action highlights the severity of the issue. In the past, a bug on the map Bind involving Gekko’s Dizzy and trap doors was reported. Although Bind remains available in all map pools, the exploit of this bug was recently observed in a VCT EMEA match.

Why did Valorant remove the Split map from all game modes?

In early April, Clove was pulled from competitive play because of a bug related to her ultimate, "Not Dead Yet," which sometimes caused players to lose their primary weapon after using it. Another bug has been found in VALORANT, but it involves a map called Split. Let's explore the Cypher tripwire bug in Split and discuss its immediate impact on the game.

In a recent social media post on X, Valorant officials stated that:

"Recently we’ve discovered two different bugs, one with Cypher’s Trapwire, which shows his Trapwires on the minimap of his teammates after he has died, and the other an exploit on Split. We will be shipping a fix for both of them in Patch 8.08. Until then, Cypher will still be available to play, but we will be removing Split from the Competitive, Unrated, Premier, Swiftplay, and Spike Rush map pools."

As a result of this map-specific bug, Cypher remains playable as an agent, but Split has been temporarily removed from the map pool until the patch is implemented. Patch 8.08 is scheduled to go live next week in Valorant.

In addition, Split will not be available in the Premier game mode. Matches originally planned for Split this week will now be held on Ascent instead. Furthermore, Split will be excluded from the map pick and ban process for the upcoming Premier Playoffs this Sunday.

It seems that Riot Games has stepped up its communication efforts regarding bugs in the game, especially after the recent discovery of a silent nerf to Viper, which was detected by the Valorant community. So let's see how they handle this bug and future issues with the game.
