Valorant by Riot Games

Valorant Mobile was revealed on the game's inaugural anniversary, marking Riot Games' initiative to broaden their flagship first-person shooter onto fresh platforms.

It’s been some time since whispers about Valorant Mobile surfaced. Currently, Valorant stands as one of the most renowned games globally, boasting a growing player base and a thriving esports scene.

Previous rumors hinted at Valorant Mobile being in beta testing in China. A recent report from the National Press and Publication Administration (NNPA) confirms that China has given its approval for Valorant Mobile. Let’s delve into what this means for the mobile gaming world.

What is Valorant Mobile?

Similar to their approach with League of Legends, Riot Games aims to expand the Valorant franchise to reach more players worldwide. Currently exclusive to Windows PC, Valorant's accessibility is limited to console players, Mac users, and mobile gamers. The introduction of Valorant Mobile aims to change that.

Anna Donlon, Valorant’s Executive Producer, expressed that earning the trust and respect of the global FPS community was a top goal in the first year (2020-21) of the game's release.

The development of Valorant Mobile aligns with Riot's commitment to making the game accessible to a broader audience while maintaining its competitive integrity.

Announcement from Riot and Valorant

Since its PC release, fans have eagerly anticipated the possibility of Valorant arriving on mobile and console platforms. As a free-to-play FPS game featuring diverse agents with unique abilities, Valorant's stunning graphics and animations have fueled anticipation for an Android and iOS release.

On June 5th, the NNPA announced its approval of Valorant Mobile, referred to as "Valorant Operation Primal" in official documents. Notably, the approval process for games by the NNPA typically spans over nine months.

Has Valorant Mobile been approved?

With approval secured in China, Valorant Mobile is poised for an official launch. While Riot Games hasn’t disclosed a global release date, the possibility of a beta rollout in China preceding a global launch is plausible, considering the ongoing testing in the region.

Riot Games previously mentioned that updates on Valorant Mobile and console would be provided later this year.

Looking back, Valorant PC was officially launched in China in the third quarter of 2023. In 2024, the inaugural year of the professional Valorant league, VCT CN, unfolded in China. Given China's status as a major market for mobile gaming, Valorant Mobile's approval serves as a significant boost for Riot Games.

Only time will reveal the game's global performance and whether an esports scene will emerge on a global scale.

Release Date for Valorant Mobile

Unfortunately, Riot has yet to announce a release date for the mobile version of Valorant. While the confirmation of its development is exciting, bringing an AAA title to mobile is a substantial undertaking, making it challenging to predict when fans can expect its launch.

However, with ongoing insider tests in select regions, it seems that an early build is already playable. This suggests that the final version may be deployed worldwide in just a matter of months.
