The next Prince of Persia game will be inspired by Moon Studios' Ori franchise, according to the latest reports.
Prince of Persia franchise have been pretty much forgotten by Ubisoft for many many years but it does seem like the French publisher are testing the waters with the recently announced remake, which could potentially lead to a full-fledged Prince of Persia game, which is something that Prince of Persia fans would certainly be excited about.
The latest report from industry insider Tom Henderson reveals that Ubisoft indeed do have a brand new Prince of Persia game in the works but don't get your hopes up just yet. It seems like this will be a smaller, 2.5D title, inspired by Ori franchise from Moon Studios.

So, yeah, if you expected a third-person AAA action-adventure, it seems that such a Prince of Persia game does not exist at the moment.
The details about this new 2.5D title are pretty scarce but it is possible that we'll hear more at Ubisoft's big games showcase, which is planned for later this year, according to Henderson.
Since releasing the first Assassin's Creed title, Ubisoft shelved the Prince of Persia franchise, releasing only a couple of smaller mobile titles along the way. And it's not the only Ubisoft franchise collecting dust, the publisher also have the Splinter Cell series , which haven't been given much love over the years.
Now, with the announcements of a remake and a reboot of these titles, respectively, there is hope that perhaps, Ubisoft completely revive both series.
