Ubisoft has detailed the next wave of updates for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, promising a packed summer of new features, progression changes, and fresh content for players. Among the biggest additions is New Game+, arriving on July 29, which lets players start the game anew while keeping key character progression, items and gear and more.
New Game+ Arrives July 29
After finishing the final story mission, players can opt into New Game+, which resets story and objective progress but retains character level, acquired gear, skill points, knowledge rank, and Hideout progression. Players can either replay the entire story from the beginning or jump ahead to when protagonist Naoe inherits the Hideout, skipping the early tutorials for a streamlined experience.
Progression Update: Level Cap Increased
A level cap increase from 60 to 80 will go live on the same day, adding new Knowledge Ranks, Mastery and Knowledge Skill ranks, and Hideout upgrades, including enhancements to Heiji’s Forge. Ubisoft also confirmed the arrival of Project 3 on July 29, which introduces new resources, data files, and Animus-themed rewards.
Quality-of-Life Improvements Coming in September
A separate quality-of-life update is scheduled for early September, packed with community-requested features such as:
- Viewpoint synchronization now fully unfogs regional maps.
- Time-of-day skipping to jump directly to dusk or dawn.
- Forge upgrades allowing Mythic (Epic) and Artifact (Legendary) gear rarities.
- Hideout updates and additional upgrades.
- Uncapped framerates for cutscenes on PC.
- A variety of fan-favorite tweaks and bug fixes.
This update will arrive just before the game’s first expansion, Claws of Awaji, launches.
Claws of Awaji Expansion Releases September 16
Ubisoft confirmed that Claws of Awaji, the first major DLC for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, will release on September 16, 2025. Players who pre-ordered the game will receive the expansion for free. However, the DLC will only unlock after completing the main story campaign, so players should ensure their save files are ready.
The publisher also included a tiny teaser in the video above but unfortunately, we couldn't spot anything that would reveal more story details about this DLC.
