Something big is coming to The Division franchise this March. The Division 2 team cryptically announced plans for an "extraordinary event" honouring the series, timed perfectly with the original game's 10th anniversary on March 8, 2026 (Thanks, Kami).
"Trust us, we still have a few surprises waiting for you," the team stated. "Join us this March for an extraordinary event honouring The Division franchise." The vague messaging has sparked speculation about what Ubisoft plans to reveal.
Recent leaks add fuel to the fire. A Definitive Edition of the original Division surfaced online, suggesting Ubisoft is preparing something special for the 2016 looter shooter. Whether that's a remaster or new content for the game, it remains to be seen.
Ubisoft is hosting a "10th anniversary commemorative premiere" soon, where all these announcements seem likely. The event could showcase the leaked Definitive Edition, upcoming Division 2 content, or provide updates on the upcoming Survivors mode that's been in development.
The big question is whether The Division 3 makes an appearance. Franchise head Julian Gerighty recently confirmed the sequel is in production and "shaping up to be a monster," but it remains years from release. Players would be ecstatic to see even an announcement trailer, though the March event will probably focus on Division 2 content.
Given Division 2's position as Ubisoft's primary live-service title in the franchise, keeping that game healthy matters more than teasing a distant sequel.
Whatever Ubisoft reveals, the 10th anniversary represents a milestone worth celebrating for one of gaming's most successful looter shooter franchises.
