Pokemon enthusiasts are sure getting spoilt for choices when it comes to their prefered Poke-flavour, and we've learned that DeNA is working with The Pokemon Company to deliver a new mobile Pokemon game sometime in the fiscal year 2019.
The company hasn't been overly prolific in the west, but those who follow Nintendo know that they've enjoyed plenty of success working with DeNA on mobile.
Their collaboration started in 2016 with Miitomo, a mobile social networking app, and went on to include the likes of Super Mario Run and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp mobile titles.
Nintendo's experience in working with DeNA probably played a role in this, seeing as how they're one of the three copyright holders of the Pokemon brand.
The news of the new Pokemon comes from DeNA's financial reports for the FY2018, and while they're not exactly glaring, the company is optimistic about the future, not least owing to the yet-to-be-named Pokemon title and Mario Kart Tour.
Unfortunately, DeNA didn't provide any more details, other than saying that they'll have more information at a later date, but judging by their financial results and hopes for the future, it's safe to assume we'll see the new Pokemon by the end of actual 2019, rather than fiscal 2019.
When it comes to profitability, you can't go much wrong with Pokemon and if DeNA manage a fraction of what Niantic achieved with PokemonGO, they won't need long to get out of the aforementioned bind.
In fact, sometime towards the end of September 2018, Niantic announced that PokemonGO raked in in in-app purchases, which practically means a billion US dollars for every year it's been on the market.
Needless to say, this is an impressive return for any game, let alone a mobile title that's free to play.
Whether DeNA will enjoy the same type of success remains to be seen, so we'll have to wait and see what exactly they've got in store.
