Argunov Games, an independent studio making their debut with this project, has announced Supreme Experiment, a sci-fi first-person immersive sim with one of the most distinctive concepts I've seen in gaming recently that makes Cyberpunk 2077 look like a kids' game!
About the game
Supreme Experiment takes place a century after humanity retreated into Spire Cities, massive towers stretching eight kilometres above toxic clouds. Intelligent machines maintained the surface autonomously until the day resources suddenly stopped flowing. A young student volunteers to descend to the forgotten surface to uncover what happened (that's probably where the game kicks off).
What really stuck me is the concept of the machies, which have evolved into distinct species, forming warring tribes with religions pieced together from human relics. An incredible idea, I have to admit.
These machine cults perform ritualistic maintenance that blends worship with functionality, creating a bleak, atmospheric, dystopian setting that oozes with visual personality. Seriously, just look at the screenshots!
No Gameplay footage
Unfortunately, the announcement trailer focuses on world-building and lore rather than gameplay, featuring narration over sweeping shots of derelict megastructures, ritual spaces, and towering constructs. Concrete gameplay details remain scarce, though Argunov describes the experience as combining immersive combat with atmospheric exploration across high-tech ruins and primitive machine settlements.
The game is still early in development, and the devs say they are currently working on a gameplay vertical slice.
"Project SUPREME is currently in its early development phase. The narrative foundation and world design have been completed, and a preliminary teaser has been produced to showcase the setting and key characters.
Currently, we are working on a gameplay prototype."
Supreme Experiment is available to wishlist now on Steam.
