Elden Ring Nightreign update 1.03.1 adds new Forsaken Hollows DLC content, balances raids and curses, and delivers a large wave of bug fixes across all platforms.

FromSoftware has dropped Update 1.03.1 for Elden Ring Nightreign, and it’s one of the more sweeping patches we’ve seen for the game so far.

The update includes new content for players who have purchased The Forsaken Hollows DLC, and also rolls out a long list of balance changes, quality-of-life tweaks, and technical fixes.

A large part of the update has to do with making combat, raids, and progression systems more consistent. It also patches up how DLC content works in multiplayer, ensuring that new encounters only appear in sessions where everyone owns the expansion.

New Forsaken Hollows content

Players who own The Forsaken Hollows DLC will encounter more targets, landmarks and raid events in Deep of Night mode. There are also new Shifting Earth variations to add more variety to certain areas from run to run.

Crucially, DLC content will now only spawn in sessions where all the matched players own the expansion, to prevent confusion or locked encounters during multiplayer runs. New Night Aspect attack patterns have also been added when all group members have access to the DLC.

Balance changes and gameplay tweaks

Curse effects dealing Fire, Magic, Lightning, and Holy damage have been increased, while effects dealing continuous HP loss and HP recovery have been rebalanced to hit more consistently.

The Tricephalos raid event has been slightly nerfed, with the attack power of the summoned wolves decreased. Usability improvements include having identical consumables stack automatically when swapping, item rarity colours appearing when pinning items, and better explanations of special effects using new icons in the status menu.

Visual changes were also added, including a burning effect on the characters of allies affected by Night’s Tide, and clearer feedback when reviving an ally near death.

Fixes and system improvements

This update has a very high count of bug fixes involving all skills, relics, weapons, and boss enemies. Scholar skills, near-death system, rune sharing, relic stacking, and damage calculation among others have been addressed and fixed.

Bosses in particular were a focus with hit registration, spawn and attack behaviour fixes for Night bosses, raid events, and DLC encounters. Additional map display errors, missing icons, menu issues and localisation fixes have also been applied.

In addition to addressing these specific issues, this update also provides a number of quality of life improvements for performance and stability. Crashes on PlayStation consoles have been addressed along with targeting issues when using Scholar skills on PC.

Elden Ring Nightreign was released on 30 May 2025 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam for PC. Forsaken Hollows, a DLC for the game, was released on 4 December 2025.
