Developer Saber Interactive are still working on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Star Wars: KOTOR) Remake, which has not been completely cancelled like recent rumours suggested.

Star Wars: KOTOR Remake has had a very turbulent development so far, to the point where some industry insiders like reliable Jeff Grubb stated that the game may be completely cancelled.

Grubb stated recently that the game is not in active development at Aspyr Studio, hinting that the project could soon be completely cancelled. He added that Sony, who have the publishing rights for the game, are looking for a way out from the whole mess.

And while the past week has certainly brought a lot of disastrous news for those who are eagerly anticipating this remake, there is still a glimmer of hope that the project is underway. According to reliable Jason Schreier, Star Wars: KOTOR Remake is still being worked on.

Bloomberg journalist reveals that he talked to two people at Aspyr's parent company Saber Interactive, who both told him they are working on the game in some way.

However, Schreier somewhat hints that it's possible that the game still never comes out or even if it does release one day, it may not be what fans want from a remake.

"'Is it alive?' and 'Will it ever actually come out?' are two very different questions. A third is 'If it does ever come out, what will it actually look like?'," he said.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is probably cancelled or is no longer a PlayStation exclusive
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has been announced for PC and PlayStation 5 but we haven't heard about it since the official reveal

If Star Wars: KOTOR is indeed is in development at the moment, it will probably take many, many years before we get to play it. With Sony reportedly trying to pull out of the publishing deal, the question of budget also comes to mind.

We sincerely hope that Embracer, who own Saber, will find a solution to the situation so Star Wars: KOTOR development finally finds some stability but given how the company recently fired over 900 developers and shut down several projects, it may be too late for this one too.
