Aspyr and PlayStation are currently working on Star Wars: KOTOR Remake but it was Xbox that had the chance to co-develop the game first.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) Remake was officially announced by Aspyr Studios and PlayStation last year, to everyone's surprise. KOTOR was originally an Xbox exclusive title and to see the remake announced at the PlayStation showcase along with the PlayStation logo caused a lot of heated discussions among the fans.

Some were surprised that Xbox allowed this to happen while others praised Sony for making the move and taking one of the most iconic Xbox games to make it a PlayStation exclusive.

But, it seems that Xbox have passed on a chance to develop the KOTOR remake. Popular YouTuber MrMattyPlays claims that according to his sources, Xbox were approached for the remake but they turned it down.

"I've been told by sources who have been accurate in the past that Xbox was approached for the KOTOR Remake and they turned it down," he said.

He adds that he does not know when exactly the deal was struck for the KOTOR Remake but his sources state that Xbox turned such an opportunity very recently.

The reason? Well, frankly, no one knows for sure. We know that all Xbox studios are busy developing new games so it's possible that Xbox simply did not have the manpower at that time to accept the deal.

It's also possible that Xbox want to focus on their own IP, instead of working on franchises that they don't and won't ever own.
