It looks like Aspyr Media are the mysterious developer handling the upcoming Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Remake. Aspyr Media are known for their work on KOTOR mobile port.
Fans of the original Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic recently learned that a Remake of the beloved MMORPG is currently in the works and should be coming sometime in the near future. The details about the remake are pretty scarce though. We don't even have official confirmation just yet but some solid sources suggested that the project is indeed real.
The studio behind the remake is yet to be revealed officially but reliable Jason Schreier has hinted that Aspyr Media could be helming the project.
In the thread over at gaming forum ResetEra , one person pointed out that Schreier stated that the fans of the game would never guess the developer behind the project. Bloomberg's reporter quickly replied that no one actually guessed right, until now.
If you are familiar with Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, you probably know that Aspyr Media are the developer that ported KOTOR to iOS and later worked on another mobile port - Jade Empire to Android.
If Aspyr Media are indeed behind the project, then it's really hard to predict how this Remake is going to pan out. On one side we have a developer who usually focus on porting games, which suggests that the Remake won't be as big as we have hoped.
However, this does not necessarily mean that Aspyr Media are not capable of delivering a fully-fledged Remake. For example, Bluepoint Studio are also usually handling ports and they managed to create one of the best remakes of all time in Demon's Souls.
All in all, guess we will just have to wait and see if Star Wars KOTOR becomes something that fans of the original want it to be.
